"This stylish pub, whose name reflects the fact that Thomas Paine once called Lewes home, is one of the best places to pair local Harveys ale with well executed food, albeit with a definite Continental lean. Wood panelling, art deco lighting and a summer terrace makes things feel a long way from the average British boozer" - Lonely Planet

Food Glorious Food
We pride ourselves on only using the finest ingredients in our kitchen because we know that using fresh seasonal produce produces the best flavours possible. When we can we source much of our produce locally although some of our ingredients do come from further afield, such as our Pata Negro Bellota Iberico ham. If you have never tried it, it's a must! perfectly paired with a glass of wine, or even better a tipple of the finest Harveys Ale

"Sunday roast @ Rights of Man. Well worth a trip to the bandit country of Lewes. Beef was tender and flavoursome ( Emily thought it was best she’s ever tasted ) lovely crisp roasties, three pots of delightful sides - cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, swede purée, rich gravy n Yorkie the size of Greenland. But nicer. Highly recommend, now time to mooch back to Brighton and have post prandial snooze" - Brighton Sunday Road Club
Superb food, welcoming atmosphere, great pub / restaurant
A great mix of welcoming, comfy pub & superb restaurant. Good, friendly service, great range of beers, tasty food, fair prices. The slow cooked pork cassoulet was delicious, succulent pork, spicy chorizo, rich bean sauce.
Two starters, two mains, a beer & two large glasses of wine - £62.50 + and - good value.
Worth booking because at 13.30 on a Saturday they were busy & turning people away.-
